Should I choose SS304, SS316, or SS316L for gutters?

 

SS304 suits most inland industrial projects-best cost-performance, the default choice for stainless gutters. SS316 contains 2-3% molybdenum, outperforming 304 in corrosion resistance for coastal environments and mildly corrosive chemical media. SS316L is the ultra-low carbon version of 316 (C≤0.03%), resisting intergranular corrosion during welding-since gutters require extensive TIG welding, SS316L is the preferred grade for welded systems. Summary: inland→304, coastal/chemical→316L, welded coastal projects→316L first.

 

What thickness should stainless steel gutters be?

 

For standard industrial applications, 1.0-2.0mm (approx. 14-20 gauge) is typical.
