Engineering Performance & Design Notes
Two things decide how a ground-level support member behaves.
First, section geometry. A cold-formed C distributes load along its web and two flanges, and its modest weight keeps the dead load of the support frame small - important where the frame hangs off a formwork system or a foundation cradle.
Second, corrosion allowance. Because these members sit low, often near damp soil, standing water or curing concrete, hot-dip galvanizing adds a sacrificial zinc layer that protects the section long after a painted member would show edge rust.
The section is checked against the governing standard (per the ASTM / DIN / JIS / BS spec nominated on your drawing) for bending, deflection and web crippling at the support points, and wall thickness is chosen to suit the service rather than over-specified.

Bill & cutting plan – sections, lengths and hole positions are listed from your framing drawing.
Coil material check – the coil is re-tested for chemistry and yield to the chosen grade.
Slit to width (as required) – the coil is slit to the strip width the C section dictates.
Cold roll forming – the strip is cold-formed into the C section on our roll former.
Pre-punch & cut to length – bolt holes are punched and lengths cut to your layout.
Hot-dip galvanizing – galvanized members are dipped on our qualified partner galvanizing line for full coverage including cut edges.

FAQ:
Is the galvanizing really hot-dip?
Yes - galvanized members are dipped on a dedicated partner hot-dip galvanizing line, giving full coverage including cut edges and corners; black members skip this step.
Can these channels be cut and drilled on site?
They are supplied cut to your layout, but plain lengths and plain (unpunched) members are available if your site prefers to cut and drill in place.
Can galvanized members be welded?
Yes, but weld only in a ventilated area - galvanizing fumes are harmful - and brush the weld and heat-affected zone with a zinc-rich paint afterwards, because welding burns the zinc locally. For bolted joints you simply touch up any scribed or rubbed spots.
What is the longest single length available?
Members are cut to container-friendly lengths - up to roughly 6 m on a 20 ft and 12 m on a 40 ft container - so every run arrives as planned lengths.
How do I specify how much zinc I need?
Zinc is normally specified by the galvanizing standard (e.g. ISO 1461 / GB/T 13912) or as a coating mass in g/m². For humid or splash service we would point toward the higher end of the standard range; tell us the environment and we confirm a suitable class.
